PART 4:  CREATING R2D2’s THE LEG

Create a cylinder with 26 (yours might be different) sections, scale and rotate it to fit the inner circle – not the smallest one.

Scale it to fit the front extrusion’s thickness.    We are going to use this cylinder to create the arc on the lower piece.  *I overlapped mine just a bit.

Select the bottom faces of the cylinder and extrude them down, aligning them with the drawing. I selected 6 faces.

Extrude the faces again, aligning them with the drawing.

With the extrude tool still active, scale the faces out until it aligns with the corners on the  blueprint.

Using the Insert Loop Tool add two Edge Loops as shown in the image above.

Select the faces of the original cylinder that you made.  And press {Delete}

Using the Bridge Tool, connect opposite edges.

Change Divisions to 0.

Extrude the faces again and move down to align them with the blueprint.

Move the faces by snapping them to the edge of the other object.  Which is aligned with the groove.

Snapping Review:

Snap to Grid: Hold down the {x} key while pressing the MMB (Middle Mouse Button) in the area where you want the object to snap.

Repeat again.  Move the faces by snapping them to the lower edge of the other object.  Which is aligned with the groove.
